Property Wire recently shared the findings of a survey by Hillarys, the home interior specialist, which revealed that 35 per cent of current rental tenants in the UK think that they’d be happy to rent for the rest of their lives.
Overall, just over half (52 per cent) of those surveyed said they were happy to rent at the moment.
The research also revealed what it is that people like about renting. 39 per cent said that being able to move easily was what they liked most about their situation, while 27 per cent stated that property prices are too high, 14 per cent are glad that they don’t have to worry about paying for repairs.
However, some were concerned about the lack of tenant rights or worried by stories about renting from bad landlords when it comes to renting long term.
Tara Hall, spokesperson for Hillarys, commented: “Owning a property isn’t for everyone, especially if you like not being tied down or don’t want to spend months and months saving for huge deposits.”
This comes as the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics revealed that private rental prices climbed by just 1.1 per cent in the UK to the year to February, Letting Agent Today reported.
