According to Lincolnshire Live, this particular watering hole has just been named as the best country pub to be found in the whole of England in a national poll carried out by BBC Countryfile Magazine.
General manager of the pub Jamie Stockom said that the staff would all be treated to a fun day out to thank them for all their hard work - and tireless social media campaigning to help bring the pub to victory.
“The phone has been non-stop since we found out the amazing news, so I am looking forward to meeting new faces coming to visit as a result of this. I cannot thank the people of Retford enough for this. We will get ourselves together and go again to go that one further and win the prize nationally next time,” he went on to say.
So what’s so great about The Chequers Inn and why should you make it your local pub once you find yourself in this wonderful part of the UK?
The menu is certainly something to get excited about - good news for all the gastronomes out there. You can enjoy the likes of homemade steak and ale pie, chicken and chorizo tagliatelle, slow cooked lamb shank, a wide range of burgers, baked hake and a whole lot more.
And there’s also a wide range of craft beers available, including Adnams Crystal Rye and Dry Hopped Lager, as well as a selection of Beavertown tipples, Brooklyn lager, Camden Town and more, so if that’s more your style you’re certainly more than catered for here.
